About Farmers & Mercantile
Farmers & Mercantile was established in 1996 and has a proven record of success. We work to strategically developed growth plans and continue to expand at a sustainable pace. These plans have indeed proven very effective and today we find ourselves in a very fortunate position to be searching for talented and dedicated individuals to join our business.
We offer a tailored training programme that is delivered from both our head-office based at Sywell, Northamptonshire and the F&M branch local to the new recruit. The training period takes between 2 months and 2 years depending on experience, current level of farm insurance knowledge and brokerage ability. Whilst training at our head office we provide accommodation for those who live too far away to commute every day. We look for individuals who have a strong affiliation with the farming community and a discernible understanding of the agricultural sector.
We boast a very low staff turnover at F&M. The formula for a successful member of the Farmers & Mercantile on-farm executive team is one with integrity; self-motivation; thorough attention to detail; robust farming and brokerage knowledge; and obviously a good deal of common sense.
The day-to-day life of a Farmers & Mercantile on-farm executive entails a lot of driving. We look after clients throughout England, Scotland and Wales, with each of our branches having responsibility for their own catchment area. We make sure that our clients are provided with an excellent service and you as the adviser are very often the only person they meet from the company face to face (unless they visit us at agricultural shows) and it is important therefore to develop a strong relationship with them.
Our underwriting/administration teams are conscientious, dedicated and thorough and work to assist and support all of our clients and on-farm executives.
Farm insurance is changing and becoming more and more challenging as unforeseen incidences become more onerous.
