Richard joined Farmers & Mercantile in 2009 after spending 20 years as Group Secretary & Mutual Agent in Bury St Edmunds and then Leighton Buzzard. Richard with his wife Anja also run their family’s Farm in Bedfordshire which is primarily arable with DIY Livery, Let Units and a Green Waste Composting enterprise. In his spare time, Richard enjoys playing Hockey, a day’s shooting and is a great lover of Classic cars.
William grew up in the rural countryside of Leicestershire and spent time on his cousin’s farm where he developed a love for farming and food. Following this he has spent much of his career in Agricultural Insurance agencies. Outside of work William is busy with his Young Family, but makes time to support his Rugby team Leicester Tigers and coach mini Rugby for Stoneygate.
Toby has been working in the insurance industry for some 23 years, specialising in agriculture and private client. Outside of the office, Toby is married to a farmer’s daughter and has two children. Toby enjoys spending time with his family, going fishing and a day’s shooting. A dedicated rugby fan Toby coaches the junior teams at Oundle Rugby club
Charlotte started her insurance career with Farmers & Mercantile after graduating from the Royal Agricultural University in 2013. Charlotte and her husband have their own farm in Mid Wales where they run a flock of cheviot sheep and rear a handful of heifer calves. When Charlotte is not busy of the farm, she can be found out riding her horses. Charlotte enjoys hunting and competing at her local riding club.
Caroline was brought up on her family’s farm on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire borders near to the National Arboretum at Alrewas and now lives in Worcestershire. Caroline started her insurance career some 30 years ago. Horses and country sports have always played a big part in Caroline’s life. Caroline is currently the Chairman of the Worcestershire Hunt’s Team Chase Committee and always lends a hand on their Point to Point day.
Sally is a Herefordshire girl through and through. Growing up on her families Arable and Dairy farm Sally has developed a real love for British farming and the countryside. Sally studied Law at university in Sheffield. Sally is kept busy outside of work by her young family and farm life.
Dominic grew up on his families Arable Farm on the outskirts of York.
Before starting his career with Farmers & Mercantile Dominic studied Politics at the University of Nottingham.
Outside of work Dominic enjoys playing Cricket and Rugby for his local teams.
James is the latest addition to the Farmers & Mercantile Ludlow office.
James’ family have been involved in dairy farming for over 30 years and he started working in insurance for a local broker in Shropshire before spending 11 years working for NFU Mutual.
James gained his expertise dealing with agricultural claims and latterly he was an Account Manager looking after commercial property and farm insurance across Shropshire.
In his spare time James enjoys sport including running ultra-Marathons and football.
Having been brought up on a Livestock farm in Ayrshire, William went on to gain an honours degree in Agriculture at Scotland’s Rural College, Auchincruive. William has travelled extensively around the world and has worked on Arable & Vegetable farms in East Anglia, Australia and New Zealand. His spare time is now occupied by family life and he enjoys gardening, golfing, korfball and snowboarding.
After spending 20 years working in the London Insurance Market Roy relocated near the Scottish Borders. Now based in the lovely town of Biggar, South Lanarkshire, Roy enjoys rural life and spending more time with his family. In his spare time Roy is a member of the Biggar agricultural show committee and enjoys playing football and long dog walks. During his Insurance career Roy has worked in a number of roles in addition to Broking and has knowledge in handling Claims and Underwriting policies.
Matt has over 25 years of experience working in Agricultural Insurance with a specific interest in Livestock Insurance and Farm Risk Management. He was brought up on his families Livestock Farm in Ayrshire and studied Agriculture at Scotland’s Rural College, Auchincruive. Outside of work Matt’s interests include Oil Painting and Photography – particularly of Livestock!
