Typical… awful weather!

…until I got back to the office

Typical, I woke up to awful weather this morning and spent the majority of my day on farms the sun decided to show itself as soon as I got back to the office, at least I got to look at the clear sky from my office window.

I’ve been really busy with client appointments, you can tell harvest is coming to an end. I have visited 6 farms in the past 3 working days.

Last week my colleague Sarah and I attend the Women in Farming Networking meeting held by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society. The event was a great with lots of really interesting speakers, one of the speakers included the business banking manager of Barclays Bank. She discussed how Barclays were doubling their Agricultural funds following a visit to the Great Yorkshire Show. Their managing director had been impressed with how committed and passionate the agricultural industry is and hopes to help it keep growing. I thought this was really positive to hear.

As you may have seen on our Facebook page, each employee at F&M has been given £125 to donate to a charity of their choice. Here at the Yorkshire office we grouped ours together allowing us to donate £1,375 to the Royal Agricultural Benevolence Institute (RABI). Sally Conner from the RABI came to collect the cheque and gave a talk to the office about the charity and what we can do to help. Sally explained that insurance is often one of the first things to be cancelled when a farmer falls on hard times. We are now all hopefully in a position to try and spot farmers in financial difficulties and be able to point them in the right direction for help!
